Meet the Artist
Hello, my name is Michelle Sillimon, and I am a Fiber Artist and educator dedicated to the power of creativity, craftsmanship, and continuous learning.
Art has always been my way of exploring possibility — a space where technique, intuition, and personal expression meet. I am passionate about helping others break free creatively, build confidence in their skills, and discover the joy that comes from making with intention.
My quilting practice began in 2020, during a moment of global uncertainty, but it quickly became much more than a distraction. What started as a single quilt top evolved into a disciplined, deeply fulfilling artistic path. When I returned to that first project in 2021, I wasn’t simply finishing a quilt — I was choosing to step fully into my creative voice. From that point forward, I committed myself to learning, refining my craft, and pushing my artistic boundaries.
Since then, my work has been featured in multiple African American Fiber Art Exhibitions in Houston, TX, North Charleston, SC and Galveston, TX. Each piece reflects my dedication to storytelling, technical growth, and the expressive potential of fiber art.
Teaching is an essential part of my practice. I approach every class with clarity, warmth, and a belief that creativity thrives when people feel supported and informed. Guiding others as they develop new skills and trust their artistic instincts is one of the most meaningful aspects of my work.
As I continue to evolve as an artist, I remain committed to expanding my knowledge, honing my techniques, and embracing the lifelong journey of learning. My mission is to inspire others to do the same — to create boldly, explore fearlessly, and nurture the creative soul within themselves.
